West knows best at APIA

Matthew West of APIA Leichhardt Tigers is starting to become one of the best impact players in the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition.

After an injury setback midway through preseason that carried into the opening rounds of the season, West has really started to find his form making some very notable appearances when coming off the bench.

This run of form has seen him play a vital role in many of APIA Leichhardt Tigers’ goals of late whilst bagging a one for himself in the three games he has featured in since his return.

“The injury was a frustrating setback but something I just had to take in my stride. I’m really starting to enjoy my football at APIA after making the switch from Mounties Wanderers in the offseason.

“Mounties is a fantastic club where I played some really good football. I made great friends out there and loved every bit of my time there, however when I received the call from Leichhardt I knew I couldn’t knock it back.

“APIA is an extremely well run club and probably one the most professional I’ve ever been involved with.”

After making the move from the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s 2 competition, West admits it was a challenge at first.

“When I first came I struggled a little with the pace, fitness and technicality that players at this level are accustomed to, but after getting back into training and playing I feel like I can really compete and help the team win matches.

“I always set a goal for the season on a personal and team level. A striker wants to be scoring week in, week out and I’m no different. It would be nice to win the golden boot or be as close as possible to doing so and I feel that with the squad of players we have I can get there.

“I look forward to training and playing with the squad each week and the chemistry we have is one of the main reasons why we sitting in third currently. I know we all want to go the whole way but we have to stay focused and continue playing the way we have.”

APIA Leichhardt Tigers are on the road this weekend playing away to Manly United at Cromer Park, 7pm Saturday night.

Be sure to make your way down in what will be a great night of football between two of the PlayStation4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s high flyers.
